Loan Tran is a Durham, North Carolina based organizer, writer, and educator. In 2013, they coined the phrase “calling in” through the piece “Calling In: A Less Disposable Way of Holding Each Other Accountable,” published on Black Girl Dangerous. The piece synthesized the values and practices of resilience, compassion, and political clarity they have strived to embody in their 10+ years of organizing around important social justice issues such as LGBTQ justice, racial justice, and economic justice. They believe that love and human connection are the buoys that help us weather the storms of these times.
